Payment Method

Our internship program offers competitive compensation, with hourly rates ranging from $18 to $20 based on qualifications and experience. As a Fundraising and Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising and development activities. In this role, you'll work closely with the fundraising team to support various initiatives aimed at securing funding and cultivating relationships with donors and partners.

Qualifications

To qualify for this internship, you must meet the following requirements: Currently enrolled in a program in nonprofit management, event fundraising, or a related field. Able to work at a minimum of 10 hours per week. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for events or special projects. The length of participation ranges from 3 to 10 months, depending on the number of hours you can work per week. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Excellent research skills, with the ability to gather and analyze information from various sources. Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Free Event Planning Courses: New students are eligible to take an event planning course for free through the Institute of Events and Design. While we explored other free event fundraising courses, many provide only limited access before requiring payment. However, the Institute's grants full access to their course curriculum and online training platform.

Furthermore, the Institute of Events and Design provides financial assistance programs to support individuals who may require extra help in covering the costs of their education. These programs are designed to ensure that aspiring event fundraisers have access to quality education regardless of their financial circumstances.

1. 3. Pell Grant

   The Pell Grant is a need-based financial aid program from the federal government that is designed to help undergraduates from low-income families afford college. Grants don’t require you to pay any money back and don’t carry interest, unlike loans. Your eligibility and the amount you receive is determined by your financial need based on information you provided in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

2. 4. FSEOG Grant

   The Federal Supplemental Equal Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is administered and can be part of the student’s overall aid package. The specific amount is set by the institution’s financial aid office depending on the student’s financial need, funds available at the school, and the amount of aid the student is already receiving. The SEOG does not have to be re-paid.

Duties and Tasks

As a Fundraising and Development Intern, your responsibilities will include assisting in researching potential donors, grant opportunities, and funding prospects. You'll support the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns and strategies, aid in drafting grant proposals, sponsorship letters, and other fundraising materials, and assist with donor stewardship activities, including thank-you letters, donor recognition, and communications. Additionally, you'll help organize fundraising events, including logistics, outreach, and follow-up, and conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities and partnership prospects. Collaboration with the communications team will be essential to ensure fundraising messaging aligns with organizational branding and mission. You'll also maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and prospect databases, provide administrative support to the fundraising team, including data entry, filing, and correspondence, and assist with other fundraising and development tasks and projects, as needed.
